Thang from Bangkok, Thailand

Dear Lighthouse,
Loving greetings from Thailand. I am so grateful by the grace of God and your support that we could reach this stage in the ministry in our lives. By the grace of God we could do the first evangelism of the new year. sharing the gospel with few families and prayed for the sick man. kindly pray for the man who is sick Mr Ganesh Chhetri 69, as he has accepted the Lord Jesus Christ in his heart, that he may grow in faith in the new life. praise the Lord.   Having planted two churches in my life thus far (looking up for more in the near future) and many baptised and made some genuine disciples. Now by the grace and will of God, after all the necessary paper work is done today.
Lordwillng, tomorrow, I am going to my new mission field ie Khon khaen, in the North East Thailand which is the least reached area in Thailand. The first assignment begins with a three days school of workers for harvest (SOWH) then followed by a two weeks intensive Bible school for Thai and Lao people. I shared my testimony in an English service yesterday in Bangkok where I met a precious veteran couple, a Filipino American. Most of the missionaries are from Philippines country, being a member of Asian nation, they have the advantage edge in mission works. So many are pushing the work of God as people feel the time is near for the Lord to come. Before the Lord return we must fulfill the task of the great commission. Lordwillng I will be speaking in two separate Church, kindly remember me in your prayers. The purpose is to share what God has done in my life, salvation, healings etc to challenge and recruit the young people for the harvest of souls.
In the meantime my second daughter Merika 8 is sick having a swell under her cheek near the throat. Please pray for her healing. It's tough to leave the family but the good Lord will be done. Nothing to worry as my parents are there with my family right now. Thanks much for your precious prayers and sacrificial support. Lordwillng we will harvest together in the near future.

BK in Nepal update

Dear Praying friends and families

"For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing  whereto I sent it." (Isaiah 55:10-11)

God is alwasys faithful and provides for His glory. Thank you very much for your prayres. We just would like to request you to pray for our upcoming trip to the East. After a long time of prayers, finally the Lord has given us His time to hold evangelism seminars in three places in the eastern part of the country. We are sending the literature toaday by transport. The Gospel of John and The Ancient Path in Southeastern language will be sent 10,000 copies each to three places. Then we will supply to the local churches in the seminars. These free literature will be a real blessings to those small village churches that can not affort to buy them, and it will help them greatly to reach their own people. We hope to train many pastors and leaders from many districts.

We have supplied to some pastors and leaders before. But this time it will be with one day of training and encouragement and among many more pastors, leaders and believers as well. Please check out the attached pictures.

Please pray for our safe trip tomorrow. We are leaving right after the Church fellowship and will have to drive at night through the windy mountain road. Please pray for the fruitful ministry and the Lord would encourage His churches to GO and Preach the Gospel, for His Word does not return void!

Thank you very much for your prayers and support! We had a great training in Saptari today and supplied literature to many pastors! Tomorrow we are heading even east to Duhabi for another training! Please keep praying for us!

Glory to Him alone.

Going for the Lord

Alex & Ahna Daum January Newsletter

Greetings,

The month of December was different than our regular routine of traveling. The first week of December we did our annual “year-end giving” letter stuffing. It also announced the speaker of our annual fundraising event. MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR MARCH 15! We will be having Pastor Chip Ingram speak at this year’s annual fundraising event here in Kearney. It is going to be an amazing night of worship and testimonies! Tickets are available online at www.toddbecker.org. We would love to see many of you there!

The second week of December was Alex and I’s one-year engagement anniversary. On the day before our one-year engagement anniversary, we found out the most exciting news that we want to share with you and that is… We are going to have a BABY! We know without a doubt that this is God’s divine plan because it wasn’t ours. J We are looking forward to what God has for us in 2019!

The third week of December we traveled to a nearby school here in Nebraska and had a great event with the bleachers packed both in the afternoon and the night. I, Alex, had a great conversation with a young man named Wyatt. He was very similar to how I used to be, a hypocrite. But by the grace and mercy of God, as we looked at what Jesus says throughout scripture, he told me at the end of our conversation that he was done “playing games” with God and was ready to repent and surrender his whole life to Jesus!

I, Ahna, talked with Cassie after the afternoon assembly. As I learned more about her, she told me that her dad had committed suicide a few years prior. She was emotional over the passing of her dad. I sympathized with her and then directed the conversation back to focus on her. I asked if she knew where she would go if she died at this moment? In a serious tone Cassie said that she didn’t know where she would go when she died. Before we opened the Bible, I addressed the reliability of scripture. Then we looked at Romans 6:23 and Galatians 5:19-21. She identified that her sin of drinking would lead her to death, which is Hell. Right after that, since she grew up going to church, she started to spout off all the things that she had heard like: “everyone sins” and “God will decides where we go.” Cassie was making excuses and not taking ownership of her sin nor had she repented of them. The Spirit was leading me to show her John 3. Jesus says that you must be BORN AGAIN by the Holy Spirit. I left the conversation by challenging her to read the Bible for herself because there she will find healing and life.

The fourth week of December we had our STINT intern and staff Christmas party. Then we packed up for home. We all went to New Hope Christian Camp & Retreat Center in Platte where we had two whole days to setup our new stage. We added two more screens along with a drum riser and more lights. The band is also coming out with a new song for the New Year. While we were there on Wednesday, we were able to put on a community/youth group night of worship. There were a few students from Platte who came out for their first time to New Hope since the Westerhuis’ tragedy. The message that was repeated that night was how God redeems, restores, and renews. Thursday everyone went back to Kearney and Alex and I were able to stay in SD for Christmas. It was such a blessing being able to see almost all of our families and tell them the exciting news of baby Daum!

We are beyond blessed by your support, and we continue to keep the ministry you have in Corsica and the surrounding areas in our prayers! We love you and are looking forward to meeting with you again in person soon!

May God bless you all,

Alex & Ahna Daum

BK in Nepal update

Thank you very much for your prayers. The Lord gave us great victory in the blanket ministry. Preached and gave out hundreds of John with the blankets. That also opened a door to a Muslim village where we went afterward to give out hundreds of Injils and Other literature! Praise the Lord! Will update on this soon!

Also please pray for tomorrow’s similar outreach in another Village in Siraha district! We have one hundred blankets left and hundreds of Gospel literature! Please keep praying for us and for the Lord’s glory. Then we will head back home tomorrow afternoon!

The Lord gave us another fruitful day! We preached in a Village open air and gave out every house a warm blankets and the written Word! More than 100 houses were reached with the Gospel along with the local government people! We invited them and they appreciated our help! They also requested for the written Word! We step out in faith and the Lord did His work! Also five nomad families were also given blankets and the written Word after preaching openly! It was sad to see their children sleeping on the hay in open tents!

The Lord gave us open doors beyond our plans! Yesterday in a Muslim Village and today with the nomads! Bimu also could gave out 15 blankets to the new mothers and very poor women!

We praise God for open doors even when the government is trying to stop us with strict laws against evangelism!

We just arrived home safely last night after a long drive! Thank you God for keeping us in the mountainous road!

Please pray that the Lord would grow the seeds for His glory!

God bless you!

December Newsletter-- Alex & Ahna Daum

Greetings brothers and sisters,

Praise God for the work he is doing in and through your support! Ahna and I are looking back on November without knowing where it went!

November 2-4: We started out by being in the Platte area leading worship for a Sioux Falls youth group at New Hope Christian Camp & Retreat Center. The end of that weekend, Ahna and I were beyond blessed to come see you at The Lighthouse and sing a special number for you all and talk, well mostly cry, about how grateful we are for you all!

November 5: We ordered about 900 gospel tracts (3 different kinds) from Living Waters Ministries after being convicted as a couple that we were in a rut of only ministering on Wednesday’s at an event! Clearly not being led by the Spirit in every area of our lives if we aren’t telling someone about Jesus almost every single day!

November 6-8: After we got home, we packed our bags and headed off to Imperial, NE for an event. The enemy hates what we do so much, and it was shown through this event in two major ways. Even though I, Alex, had been talking with the administration for many months prior to the event and explained to them the potential threats they would get, mainly from the FFRF, we arrived to them telling us that unless we signed a contract they had made up, we couldn’t do the event. The principal was very fearful, but we were able to work it out and do the event as planned. Then when we left, we got a call from our primary church sponsor, Pastor Matt, and he told us that a local lady who was also the cross country coach was furious that we were there. She couldn’t do anything about us being a Christian ministry because our assembly is 100% appropriate for a public school, so she found out that they hadn’t had us fill out a facility use agreement and was trying to get someone fired! She was, as he put it, “not going to let up until she gets a chunk of flesh out of somebody.” What a clear demonstration of the power the gospel of Jesus has that it drives people crazy when they choose to not follow Christ.

November 9-11: We got back from Imperial and threw the dirty clothes out of our suitcase and through in some fresh ones and hit the road to Madison, SD to lead worship for the Platte Youth Group! It was Ahna, Aaron (the drummer for Chye), Matt (the lead singer for Chye), and myself. This weekend was a huge growing experience for both Ahna and me. In leading worship we truly want people to glorify God and give Him their highest praise, but the Platte youth group has always been very quiet and does not move at all while worshipping. So as we started out the weekend that’s how it was, but on the second day during the second session God moved. The worship really seemed to hit these kids hearts and they weren’t just words anymore. On the last session that day, we had a mosh pit up front with people jumping and singing and worshipping! It was great! Ahna and I also were able to take 90 minutes on the second day to have everyone write down questions they had concerning dating, sex, drinking, partying, what it’s like to be married, etc. and we answered those questions using the Word of God. We had many mentors say that our answers made a lot of the students come back to small groups and say they were changing things in their lives.

November 12: Alex woke up this morning and his lymph nodes on his right side next to his ear and neck were extremely swollen. But he felt fine and wouldn’t go into the doctor.

November 13-15: Again we threw out the old clothes and packed in the new! This week we were off to Gettysburg, SD! When we stopped on our way up to Gettysburg, with our new tracts in hand, Ahna and I made sure everyone in that Subway had a tract before they left! It was so much fun! It took a lot of courage for us to get going, but together and by the grace of God, we were able to break that wall and tell people about Jesus! It’s crazy how many opportunities we pass up everyday to tell people the Good News! When we arrived in Gettysburg, we had an incredible event. There was only one church that had sponsored us to come in, but incredible ministry happened during both the day and evening events! Also, our host families had some of the biggest houses on this earth! One house, we didn’t stay at it, had an elevator that just went to one room! On the way home, however, I (Alex) got worse and worse. My head started pounding in pain and my face was swelling on the right side. However, we were able to witness to a few other people at the Subway in Winner, SD and Ahna had an interesting encounter with a table of 4 older ladies. Let’s just say they were not thrilled that she was talking to them about Jesus! But Praise God for that! We just hope that some seeds were planted in her faithfulness.

November 16: I, Alex, had the worst sleep I can ever remember having. Had terrible body aches and couldn’t lay in one position for more than 20 seconds. I woke up and the fever had broke so I went to work but then my headache won me over at about 4 PM to go into the doctor. We got in and they drew blood just to make sure it wasn’t anything worse than they thought. We got the results back and everything looked normal so we found out that it was just a virus that was causing all of the symptoms from fever, headaches, muscles aches, to a swollen face and lymph nodes.

November 22-25: After working in the office that week, Ahna and I were blessed to come back to South Dakota to see family and get some much needed rest. After a wonderful time celebrating with the Timmermans, Vander Pols, and Kuypers we headed to Platte to see the Daum family! We also led worship that Sunday in Platte and sang a special number as well. We then headed back to Kearney.

November 27-29: We quick did some laundry on Monday and then headed out to Burlington, CO! This event was crazy! Literally. We had 7 schools come together to put this event on, totally around 500 students all together. The enemy again was at work through the Freedom From Religion Foundation and one of schools backed out (would’ve been school #8), even though they have had us come to their school twice in the past. It is so sad to see “Christian administrators” caving to the empty threats of the enemy. But wow what a response during the afternoon and evening! In the evening we had about 200 people come back, over half of those being high school students, and they heard the gospel of the Lord Jesus! About 50 students came forward to commit their lives to Jesus Christ! Powerful evening! On the way back from Burlington we stopped at you can guess it, a Subway! J We had our tracts, but nobody was in the Subway. However, when I ordered my sub, a conversation sparked up with the young man making it, Phillip was his name. As we talked, I found out that he was just working a lot because his girlfriend was pregnant so he needed to make money. He also told me about how he gave up on religion because the friend he used to go to church with was killed at age 15 in an accident, and he, Phillip, was abused by his dad, and he has also had three different moms in his life and they have all left him. As our conversation progressed, I told him about how we will all stand before God at the end of our lives and be judged. I explained to him about how bad things happen in our lives, not because of God, but because of the devil. John 10:10. I proceeded to explain to him why Jesus had to die and how in order to be forgive we must repent of our sins and surrender our lives fully to Jesus. At the end of our conversation, he thanked me and told me about how it all made sense to him and that he was going to really look into this. I asked if he had a Bible and he said “no”, so I was just about to go grab one when Ahna came flying in the door with one! LOL She had heard the conversation start and without me realizing, she had ran about 200 yards to the bus and grabbed a Bible and ran it back! What a wonderful wife I have! We both realized that day as well, that we need to get in better shape so we can run faster to get Bibles in times of need! J

Throughout this month, we have come to know the Truth more and more that God is faithful! It’s so humbling to meditate on the fact that the same God who rescued the Israelites from Egypt thousands of years ago is the same God we worship today! The same God who created the universe is the same God who we can have a relationship with through the blood of Jesus! The same God who led the Israelites through the wilderness is the same God we worship today! It’s so laughable that we oftentimes think we know better on our own, but it’s so awesome to think that someday soon our lives will be over and God is going to keep raising up people to proclaim His Word. Ahna and I just hope and pray that we are found faithful at the end of our lives, and we want to make sure we do it to the best of our ability and at every time possible!

May God bless you all,

Alex & Ahna Daum

Dear praying friends and families

Thank you very much for your prayers. We are sorry for not being able to update you on our last trip to the east. The Tharu John was published and supplied to some churches. But it is still to go to many churches, probably in December, Lord willing.

Now we are leaving for another trip to the mid west mountains in Rukum district. We will be doing medical camp outreach at the elevation of 15000 ft. we are leaving in few minutes and have to drive for two days, have to hike for two days just to get there. Your prayers are coveted and highly appreciated. We can do nothing without Christ. So please pray for us that He would go before us and soften the hearts of the people. To Him be the glory.

Different Avenues, Same Message --Alex and Ahna Dahm

I want to share a story with you from the first week of September and it marked our first "off week" of the season where we didn't schedule a school assembly. We are scheduling these "off weeks" this year in hopes to be better prepared and less stressed when we are going into the travel weeks. We are also using them to emphasize a more focused STINT training program. This week was special as well because, earlier this summer, the band that travels with us, Chye, was approached by Parkview Baptist Church in Lexington, Nebraska to help kick off their youth group programming by doing a concert on Sept 6th. We saw this as an incredible opportunity to do some great ministry together and have a lot of fun in the process. As you can see from the picture above, we were able to have an awesome night with them! After the concert, Alex was able to give his personal testimony and share about the importance of knowing Christ. It was also a great night of one-on-one ministry that came through a few different avenues -- not our usual setting of a school -- but still the same message.
I would like to tell you about what happened with Alex and his wife Ahna that I think you will be very encouraged by. Here it is from their perspective:

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                --Becca Becker

Alex writes:
"This story actually begins clear back on August 18th at a Christian music festival called 'Livin' out Loud' in Gothenburg, Nebraska. The Lord had me at 'Livin’ Out Loud' this year for more than just a few good concerts. As I was walking through the crowd with a bright colored volunteer t-shirt on, a young man and woman approached me. As the three of us began talking, I quickly realized that this young woman had more shame and guilt than anyone I could ever remember meeting. She wouldn’t even look at me or talk. As she, Alyssa, stared at the ground, her boyfriend Lane, began to tell me that she had been raped for over a year. He showed me cuts on Alyssa’s arms and that she has talked many times about killing herself. After talking with them and showing them scripture for over an hour, Lane really took ownership of his own sin and saw his need for Jesus to come make him into a new creation. Right there that evening, Lane turned from his sins and openly declared that Jesus is the Lord of his life. But for Alyssa, she was not ready. At the end of our conversation, I got Lane’s phone number so we could meet up again, and I showed Alyssa a few specific verses on how she was knitted together by God and that she HAS value and worth because of the love Jesus has for her.
A few weeks later, Lane wasn't able to make a meeting we'd setup, so I told him about the concert Chye was putting on in Lexington, and praise God, he and Alyssa came! After the concert, I talked with him and he began to tell me of all the incredible things that had been changing in his life. God has been taking away the desires to look at pornography and he has deleted all of the girls on his phone who were just girls he would flirt with.He was truly seeing God’s love and power work in his life. While I was able to speak more truth from God’s word into Lane’s life, Ahna (my wife) took Alyssa so they could talk more one on one."

Ahna continues:
"As Alyssa and I walked away from Alex and Lane, I began asking her questions about her life. Alyssa was very shy and rarely looked me in the eye. But she quickly opened up about her past and told me how she was raped for over a year by a man who threatened to rape his own children (yes, his own children) if she didn’t keep coming back. She blamed herself for going over to his house and not turning him in sooner. I could tell that she had never told anyone this before because she could barely say it out loud. My heart broke for her while she told me what this man did to her. She said she didn’t just hate this man, but also herself. I reassured her that this was not her fault. I explained to her that because of Jesus' great love for her, He died a terrible death on a cross so that we could have life through Jesus. I pleaded with Alyssa for her to hear God's heart that He loves her and that she is made in His image and has worth and value, but sadly her view of love had been severely skewed and damaged. As we continued to talk, I came to a point when I asked her if she was ready to receive the free gift of eternal life and make Jesus the Lord of her life and she said she was. We knelt there and Alyssa gave her life to Jesus. Praise God! I am still talking with her and hope to continue to speak life and truth into her heart. Please pray that God will continue to heal Alyssa’s heart and make her more like Jesus!"
Wow! What an encouraging story!  It's easy to see a pretty visible path that God has created for these two to walk on to draw them to Himself. It's awesome to marvel in His sovereignty when we hear testimonies like these! As Ahna said, please be in prayer for both Alyssa and Lane as they start their new journey with Christ!

Thang Trip to Bombdilla and Tawang India

We reached Bombdilla safely and met up with some friends and the church.   The next day was our main ministry. So far we have taught about fasting Prayers and intercessory prayer to ladies and youths. We did special prayers for Youths and sick people. Thanks for your valuable prayers and support.  Everyone came from the mountain villages to town area for their annual festival. We invited many in and give them teaching in a house Church.  We even found a couple old disciples of 6 years ago.

We conclude, Lordwillng, to organise a bigger campaign next time.  Praise the Lord. Finally after completing the mission trip,  we reached home safely by 5 pm. By the grace of the Lord, We could teach about prayer and fasting and discipleship to the youths, men and the women in Tawang. Tawang is said to be a home of the second largest bhudhist monastery in Asia. It's a stronghold of the enemy. Christians persecution is still at work. Mission works are forbidden here whether through schools or any method. Therefore it was a privilege come pleasure to be able to minister to the people. I met one of my spiritual daughter and three people are ready for baptism. I am deeply grateful for the Lord's protection over our journey and over my family back at home. To the Lord be the glory. Thang
