Hello and greetings in the Lord Jesus Christ,

I have a question in regards to the church. I realize when one says the church there can be a wide variety of responses and understanding as to what the church is. For the sake of clarity let us stick with what the Bible says the church is. The church simply means "called out ones." In short the true church of Jesus Christ is those who have repented of their sins and trusted in Jesus as their Savior. Within a church (the structure) may attend both believers and non-believer's, but what God cosniders His church are those who have been born of His Spirit.

That being said, the question I want to pose to the believer in Christ is what would you say the primary purpose of the church is? I think it is imperative to understand this for the health and furthering of the true body of Christ. I do believe today as a whole the church as lost it's bearing and purpose and have determined for themselves what will be its main emphasis regardless of whether it is Biblical or not. Further, I hear many preachers talk about "their ministry." I do not believe this is Biblical either because the church is not about the Pastor's agenda but rather about God's purposes and plan during this age of grace. Therefore, Jesus being the One that builds His church which is only done through the Holy Spirit has the full right to reveal to us what is it's primary purpose.

I will not give the Biblical answer as of yet but I can give you a hint. What was the primary purpose of Jesus coming to this earth? I will await your responses and then later post the Biblical response fot the very purpose and existence of the church. God bless
